This report is a the first ever Dangerous Area Survey conducted in Western Sahara east of the Berm. With funding from the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the Norwegian Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
AOAV started the survey in 2006 and completed it in December 2008. The survey identified 158 cluster strikes, 37 minefields and 1 ammunition dump, or 196 “Dangerous Areas” that AOAV split into 90 high, 39 medium and 67 low priority tasks, based on criteria such as main population centres, water points and routes.
