Baroness Valerie Amos

Amos is the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations. She acts as the UN’s humanitarian chief and is responsible for leading the activities of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA). She acts as a focal point for relief efforts following emergencies. Amos was previously a Minister in the British Government and the first black woman appointed as leader of the House of Lords.
