Barry Lowenkron

Barry Lowenkron is responsible for directing the MacArthur Foundation’s international grant making and oversees peace and security projects. The Macarthur fund has assets totalling $5.7 billion and in 2011 gave $87 million to organisations working on global security and sustainability. The fund also gives grants to enhance criminal justice systems and access to justice. Before working at the MacArthur foundation Lowenkron was Assistant Secretary of State in the US government. While there he established a global human rights defenders fund. He has previously served as a Lecturer in foreign policy at John Hopkins University and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.Barry Lowenkron
