David Tolbert is the President of the International Center for Transitional Justice. The centre works to provide technical knowledge and expertise to societies addressing legacies of massive human rights violations and building up trust in state institutions. Their work has included recommending ways to improve domestic prosecutions in DRC, assisting the Human Rights Committee in Afghanistan to document war crimes and providing best practice to assist the truth commission in Morocco. Prior to arriving at the centre, Tolbert worked on the Khmer Rouge trials and at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
