Eric Niragira is the founder of the Training Centre for Development of Ex-Combatants (CEDAC). Born in Burundi he was a child soldier during the civil war, witnessing much brutality and seeing many of his friends killed and injured. His experiences inspired him to work with former combatants and help to reintegrate them into society through skills and peace building training. CEDAC has assisted in the reintegration of 25,000 former combatants in Burundi. Niragira has participated in conferences on disarmament and armed violence around the world and in 2010 he was awarded the Niarchos Prize for Survivorship.Eric Niragira
