Fatou Bensouda
Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court
Fatou Bensouda has been the International Criminal Court’s Chief Prosecutor since June 2012, replacing the first Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo. She has the responsibility of investigating situations, and determining which individuals should be charged with the crimes under the jurisdiction of the court. Most recently, she has opened a full scale investigation into the situation in Mali. Born in Gambia, Bensouda has been awarded World Peace through Law Award.
