Ethiopia’s National Defense Force is overseen by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Defense. One of the main aims of the force currently is stemming the threat posed by al Shabaab in Somalia. It hopes to prevent the spread of violence crossing in Ethiopia’s own borders.
They have received capacity building training from the US and cooperated in regional security efforts.
