AOAV: all our reports

Iain Overton appointed Executive Director at AOAV; Steve Smith moves on to new role at the International Refugee Trust

After almost five years of working at Action on Armed Violence, Steve Smith is moving on.  Over the course of his time at AOAV he oversaw an average of 13 humanitarian projects every year, ranging from clearing landmines in Western Sahara, to overseeing our work in researching the global impact of explosive weapons around the world, to preventing the transfer of illicit small arms between Burundi and the DRC.

“It has been a privilege to work with such a fine and committed team at AOAV, and to see how beneficial our programmatic work has been both on the ground and our research work has been in places such as the UN,” Steve said.

Steve is to start his new role as CEO the International Refugee Trust, based in Chiswick, London, later this month.

Iain Overton will take on the new role of Executive Director of AOAV, continuing the charity’s focus on policy research, from Monday 16th May. Our new offices are 405 Mile End Road, Bow, London E3 4PB.

He can be contacted at ioverton@aoav.org.uk or on 07984 645 145.

Iain said: “It is a great pity to see Steve leave and we hope at AOAV that we can continue his great work.  We remain committed to highlighting the harm wrought by explosive violence around the world and to researching ways in which civilians may be spared the impact of explosive weapons in populated areas.”
