Trends and patternsnigeria-yearly-deaths-and-injuries-1

In 2014 and 2015, Nigeria witnessed the fourth-largest number of civilian deaths and injuries from explosive violence reported around the world. AOAV’s Explosive Violence Monitor recorded 2,407 civilian deaths and injuries in 2014, and 2,920 in 2015. This was a significant increase from the 140 deaths and injuries from explosive violence recorded in 2013 and demonstrates a 1986% increase in deaths and injuries from explosive violence between 2013 and 2015.

Nigeria is one of the countries worst affected by explosive violence. When used in populated areas, suicide bombings and other types of explosives frequently kill and injure over 93% civilians.
