Niamh Gillen is an Explosive Violence Researcher at Action on Armed Violence (AOAV), where she focuses on documenting and analysing the global impact of explosive weapons on civilians. She leads AOAV’s Explosive Violence Monitor, a unique dataset built from English-language media reports, which tracks incidents of explosive violence and their human toll. Niamh provides in-depth analysis and commentary on the trends and patterns revealed by this data to inform research, advocacy, and policy discussions.

Niamh also holds an MA in Strategic Communications from King’s College London and was a researcher at the Centre for the Study of Divided Societies at King’s College London prior to joining AOAV.
