Around 2 million people are estimated to be exposed to the threat of landmines on either side of the 450km long ‘contact line’ in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of eastern Ukraine. This article examines the challenges and impacts these landmines present.

Twin blasts kill 14 and injure 45 in Bamiyan, Afghanistan
At least 14 people were killed and 45 wounded by two explosions in the city of Bamiyan, central Afghanistan. The two magnetic bombs, one hidden near a marketplace and the other near a hospital, killed 12 civilians, including children, as well as two traffic policemen.
