Between 2011 and 2018, AOAV recorded over 230,000 civilian casualties from the use of explosive weapons across the globe. The infographic below details some of the key findings from eight years of casualty recording. It is clear that the impacts of explosive violence continue to be borne primarily by civilians around the world, including both the direct and indirect effects. One of the consistent patterns found each year of monitoring showed that when explosive weapons were used in populated areas over 90% of casualties were civilians.
