Dr Jack Denny

Biography

Dr Jack Denny, a lecturer in structures at the University of Southampton, specialises in blast engineering, focusing on how explosions affect structures and human tissue. His work combines large-scale experimental testing with advanced computational methods such as CFD and finite element analysis to model blast propagation and structural response. Since completing his PhD in 2017, he has expanded into interdisciplinary research spanning protective design and blast injury science, collaborating internationally with institutions including Cranfield University and the University of Cape Town. He also co-founded the International Blast Injury Research Network, reflecting his broader aim to address the risks posed by urban explosions from conflict, terrorism and industrial accidents.
