Theodora-Ismene Gizelis is currently a Professor at the Department of Government at Essex and Director of the Economic and Social Research Council South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). SeNSS is the second largest DTP in the UK and the largest in England, a consortium of 10 Higher Education Institutions.
Her work is on conflict dynamics, peacekeeping effectiveness, gender equality and post-conflict reconstruction. She is also interested in health outcomes, especially for women and girls in post-conflict countries. In the past she has worked with Peace Direct, International Development Research Center (IDCR) in Canada and UN Women. She has also worked with data collected by AoAV and, together with colleagues, explored the link between explosive violence and female empowerment.
