International arms networks continue to supply Myanmar’s military with weapons despite sanctions, fuelling a deadly conflict that has seen significant civilian deaths.

Since the military coup on 1st February 2021, Myanmar’s military government has responded with increasing violence to both civil and armed resistance.

Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) echoes the urgent call of Human Rights Watch, condemning the Myanmar military’s use of “thermobaric” munitions in an attack on a civilian-populated area, an act that is potentially a war crime and resulted in the tragic loss of over 160 lives.
