The International Peace Institute is an independent, international not-for-profit think tank. They are dedicated to promoting the prevention and resolution of conflicts between and within states by strengthening international peace and security institutions.

To achieve its purpose, IPI employs a mix of policy research, convening, publishing and outreach.

Given the nature of their work, it is no surprise they have a strong interest in C-IED related areas such as disarmament, conflict prevention, peacekeeping and terrorism. It is under these branches that the IPI undertake research into IEDs.

The research and publications by the IPI on IEDs and C-IED work has informed further C-IED efforts, such as by the UN.

Publications on C-IED include: “Counter-IED Technology in UN Peacekeeping: Expanding Capability and Mitigating Risks” and “Safety and Security Challenges in UN Peace Operations”.

This profile is part of AOAV’s investigation into counter-IED (C-IED) actors around the globe. To see the list of all C-IED actors recorded by AOAV, see here. To see those engaged in the Middle East, the Sahel, North Africa or other highly impacted countries please see here, here, here, and here respectively. This research was made possible by funding from the NATO Counter Improvised Explosive Devices Centre of Excellence (C-IED COE).
