BHMAC carries out humanitarian demining throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center conducts general and systematic survey and project documentation drafting, while accredited demining organisations, including military, NGO and commercial organisations, conduct technical survey, clearance of areas and objects, underwater clearance and UXO removal.
There are three demining methods used:
- Manual demining (detector and prodder)
- MDD teams
- Mechanical ground preparation
BHMAC and the organisations involved in the demining have access to a range of equipment, including:
- 25 mashines for soil disturbing
- 3 mashines for vegetation removal
- 8 mashines for waste removal
- 1186 detectors
- 101 mine detection dogs
Other related activities that BHMAC engage in, includes mine risk education, mine victim assistance, advocacy, and stockpile destruction.
