rcafLocation: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Type: Military

Many members of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) have participated in C-IED training alongside members of forces such as those from the United States. Each year the RCAF host a bilateral military exercise, in which some of the key areas of focus are C-IED or EOD tactics and training.

The military engineers of the RCAF have been involved in demining and bomb disposal since 1994. They have been working in many areas of their own country, particularly in some of the most dangerous areas, where other demining efforts in Cambodia do not wish to do, such as the Veal Veng district in Pursat as there is a lack of medical facilities.

The demining conducted by the RCAF is done to UN standard and have been responsible for destroying thousands of antipersonnel mines left by China, the Soviet Union, the United States and Vietnam, as well as thousands more of UXO.

This profile is part of AOAV’s investigation into counter-IED (C-IED) actors around the globe. To see the list of all C-IED actors recorded by AOAV, see here. To see those engaged in the Middle East, the Sahel, North Africa or other highly impacted countries please see here, here, here, and here respectively.
